The residents at Broadlands Lodge Care Home were delighted to share their stuffed with love experience with some extra special visitors. All of our guests and residents laughed and played together, telling stories, and engaging in some wholesome activities, amidst an environment of love and warmth. The special teddy bears picnic and accompanying contest was the perfect embodiment of the lodge's strong community ties and the spirit of giving which always prevails within its walls.
Residents, Roberta, Julia, Peter, Louis, and Edith were all present for this memorable occasion, and were especially thrilled to have Baby Violet along as well as all the children from Friends in Deed. Many of the residents and children had brought their favourite teddy bear along for the fun.
The delicious picnic spread, featuring teddy bear sandwiches, crisps, fruit platter, and a homemade cake further added to the wonderful day.
Tamara Crosswell, Broadlands Lodge Care Home’s manager, said: “It was a pleasure to welcome our friends from Friends in Deed to our teddy bears’ picnic and it was a fantastic opportunity for our residents to socialise, for our staff to connect with the Friends in Deed volunteers, and for everyone to share in the joy of a summer picnic.”
Friends in Deed are a charitable organisation that provides help to those in need and companionship for people living in care homes. They have been praised for their volunteer efforts and their valued contribution to the local community.
The picnic was a huge success with residents and staff enjoying games and music in some glorious summer weather. When asked, residents were keen to praise the care home staff and the Friends in Deed.
All the proceeds raised from the “Stuffed with Love” will be donated to the Scotty's Little Soldiers; a local charity which Broadlands Lodge is proudly supporting. If you wish to name the bear, please come along to Broadlands Lodge Care Home, or look out for our social media as to where they will be in the coming weeks.
May this special teddy bear become a significant symbol of fellowship and form a special kinship between generations and become a source of joy to everyone involved.
