Broadlands Lodge Residents Soar on Memorable Saxon Air Visit
Residents of Broadlands Lodge Care Home in Norwich were treated to an extraordinary day out at Saxon Air Base, an event organised by their friends at Friend in Deed. The occasion was made even more special as they were joined by fellow residents from Heath Lodge and lively young students from Firside Junior School. The atmosphere buzzed with excitement and anticipation as attendees explored a variety of engaging activities.
Peter and Carol, residents of Broadlands Lodge, expressed overjoyed gratitude for the invitation. As they explored the hangar, participants learned about aviation traffic control and were engrossed in a captivating talk by Alex, the CEO, about the history of a World War II spotter plane.
Peter, with his wealth of wartime memories, captured the attention of everyone present. Sharing his personal experiences of being evacuated at the age of ten, and recounting the vivid memories of bombings, he enchanted the children and captivated even the CEO. Notably, Peter delighted his audience with anecdotes of meeting Winston Churchill and having once worked at Buckingham Palace.
The event proved to be a delightful blend of history, education, and interaction, leaving both the residents and their young companions with treasured memories. Such days out are testament to the thoughtful care and stimulating experiences provided by Broadlands Lodge, ensuring that every resident enjoys fulfilling and meaningful experiences.
