Energy Efficient future proofed care homes

Danforth has been at the forefront of innovation in the design, testing and constructing of industry leading, energy-saving care homes. Having removed gas from all sites going forwards Danforth now has a clear focus to move towards net-zero carbon emissions in the operating assets, with our critical path to zero-carbon consumption and self-generation/net-zero care homes. Each home has Solar PV fitted, maximising the available self generation of power.

Danforth care homes are Carbon Free Green Homes, deploying the very latest energy saving technology. Each home is an outstanding EPC “A” (3) rated Carehome that operates without gas. This brilliant place to live is engineered to produce a significant amount of self generated power. Over 80% of its roof is covered in solar panels to generate electricity to help run the home and has onsite battery stores to retain any spare energy for use another time.  This means our home will consume about a third of a homes normal electricity and this can be purchased from clean sources on the grid.

In addition the homess benefit from extensive ground source heat pump technology. Underneath the site there are bore holes dug to depths of 600ft (with over 2 miles of digging completed in total). This incredible use of the earths natural heat provides hot water heating and enables our residents to benefit from underfloor heating and comfort air cooling technology.

At Danforth we build outstanding EPC A Carehomes that operate without gas. Our brilliant places to live are engineered to produce a significant amount of self generated power which means our homes will consume only a small amount of electricity which can be purchased from clean sources on the grid. Danforth homes are now operationally Carbon Free energy consumers.
