Michael, the Maintenance Manager at Sid Bailey Care Home, Brampton, has excitedly been nominated for The Proud of Barnsley Award. This is for his work in the community, his selfless donation, and his hard work at Sid Bailey. Michael’s dedication has not gone unnoticed as he puts the care home, residents, and the staff first. He is one of the stars of the care home team and a role model for many of the staff. Michael is an all-round hero for the care home and community.
Michael has also been described as a humble and thoughtful person, who has been supporting his community throughout the pandemic, when crime rates increased. To support family, friends, and residents of the area. Michael funded and developed his own safety app, and it has since spread nationwide.
He has been revered and respected by everyone since the home opened in April and he is an invaluable member of the team, with his hard work, dedication and caring, positive attitude. Michael has made everyone proud from management, staff, and residents at Sid Bailey to all his friends and family.
Michael is also full of surprises as we discovered he is a bit of a music star - Michael is the drummer of a 1970’s themed glam rock party band.
Michael wrote a Christmas song a few years ago but put it on hold until Bob Bradbury from the iconic 70’s glam rock band “Hello” heard the song and asked him to take it into the recording studio. “Hello” released Michael’s song in November 2022 and called it Glam Fever after his band.
The glam-rock single skyrocketed in popularity and went straight to number 8 on the Apple radio chart of gold, 100 in the first week of December. In its second week, it reached number 1 and stayed at the top spot on the hot 100 Christmas singles until 4th January of the following year. It was played on the radio across several countries, including the UK, USA, Holland, France, Sweden, Denmark, Germany, and Finland.
Sue Ravenhall the manager at Sid Bailey commented on Michael compassion saying “We knew we had someone special when we interviewed Michael, He is very much respected at Sid Bailey not just by the team but also by residents. It is an absolute pleasure and joy to have Michael on the Sid Bailey team.”
