Eeeaww! At Broadlands Lodge

On a sunny day at Broadlands Lodge Care Home, something special happened. Miniature Donkeys came for a visit! The donkeys had been kindly brought by local company 'Mini Donkeys' and the visit was sure to bring smiles to the residents.

This wonderful experience started with a few curious noses peeking out of the door. The residents and their families and visitors could not wait to meet the miniature donkeys. Little hoofs clopped predictably on the home’s driveway, as the excited animals arrived to meet their admirers.

Overcome with glee, the residents enjoyed chattering with the owners of the donkeys and getting to know them. A family who had come to visit their grandmother took part in the experience too. One resident shared stories of his childhood spent in the south of England, where he remembered going on donkey rides when he was a young boy.

The residents adored getting to meet the donkeys and interacting with them. One said, "It was like being back at the seaside!" All the residents were delighted with this special visit, which was apparent with the amount of laughter and smiles present.

The visit was a delightful success, and all the residents felt their wellbeing improve. To complete the experience, home-made cakes and pastries were served as refreshments. The donkeys were even asked how they felt about having been given such a fun-filled opportunity to visit the care home. Their unanimous response seemed to be, "Eeeaww!" Everyone there was truly impressed and amazed by the donkeys, who had of course, stolen the show.

The visit from the miniature donkeys was certainly one to remember. The special day brought joy to all those that were present and left everyone wanting to come back for more. Residents have spoken fondly of the experience ever since and initiated conversations of memories. The team at Broadlands Lodge Care Home are thankful to have had the miniature donkeys visit and, in the words of the donkeys, "Eeeaw!" this visit was an enormous success in creating more smiles and happiness for everyone!
