Rossendale House Residents Thrive on Weekly Fitness Outings
Rossendale House, nestled in the heart of Burnley, recently facilitated a delightful day trip for its residents that proved both engaging and invigorating. Iram Sayeed, the enthusiastic Project Co-ordinator for ELCAP, extended an invitation that promised an opportunity for the residents to participate in exercise classes at St Peter's Centre. Her goal, to inspire activity and nurture friendships amongst seniors, resonated deeply within the walls of Rossendale House.
Each Thursday from 10 am to midday, the residents are afforded the luxury of ease and comfort with transport arranged by Iram, scooping them up from the very steps of Rossendale House and ensuring their safe return. Anticipation was in the air as residents unanimously expressed keen interest in this weekly escapade.
As the group ventured to the centre, they embarked on their active journey with gentle stretches and warm-up exercises. Mike demonstrated his youthful spirit by partnering with a young instructor for a lively game of tabletop tennis. Meanwhile, Jen, Lyn, and Lynette showcased their prowess in badminton, each swing filled with joy and laughter.
The physical exertion soon gave way to a well-earned refreshment break, where residents indulged in thirst-quenching drinks and the camaraderie of fellow attendees. With spirits high, they shared in the pleasures of board games and friendly interactions, making lasting connections.
Their experience was overwhelmingly positive, with Mike admitting, "I really did enjoy that but I do think I overdid it. I am going to pace myself next week,” along with being keen on returning. Jen eagerly pondered, "That was brilliant, can I come again?" To which Lyn graciously added, "Thank you, I had a lovely time."
St Peter's Centre has proven to be a beacon of joy, with the promise of another fantastic Thursday adventure awaiting. The residents of Rossendale House eagerly anticipate their next visit, eager to embrace more moments of activity and sociability.
