Pear Tree Care Home and Wesham Bowling Club Bring 'Good Times' to Senior Residents
Pear Tree House Care Home have just announced an exciting new venture that has seen them forge an even closer connection with the local community.
On Mondays, those living in Pear Tree House Care Home have been taken to the Wesham Bowling green. Here, the enthusiastic staff have been organising specialised bowling sessions to suit different abilities with Karen, who runs the club, being very accommodating. One resident has benefitted greatly from attending the sessions as she has recently commenced a newfound talent in the game. Refreshments are served at half time which provides a great chance to socialise with members of the local community.
The second event that is held in collaboration with the Wesham Bowling Club is a coffee morning every Friday held at Pear Tree House Care Home. During this event, residents have the chance to interact with local members of the public whilst playing indoor games such as bowls which adds an extra element of fun and competitiveness. Laughter is heard bouncing down the corridors of the care home during this weekly occasion.
This is an extremely positive story of how Pear Tree House Care Home have strived to enhance the cultural and social relationships of the local area. Through sponsoring these two events, the home has been working very hard to ensure that their residents are able to enjoy memorable experiences in the secure environment that the care home provides. As well as this, they have been building even bigger bonds with the local community.
"At Pear Tree House Care Home, we have nurtured a positive relationship with our local Wesham Community Centre. By working together, we're able to offer our residents exciting and engaging activities such as bowling on Mondays and a coffee morning on Fridays. It gives them the opportunity to form bonds with members of the local area and increase their own social skills. The events are excellent for improving residents' wellbeing, and it's wonderful to see friendships form and skills improve - such as with Tracy and her newfound love of bowling. I'm extremely proud of the partnership we have formed, and the vitality it brings to our home." - Charlene, Care Home Manager, Pear Tree House Care Home.
