Broadlands Lodge residents enjoyed an afternoon of Nostalgia Film Shows, including The Glenn Miller Orchestra, Holiday camps in the 1960s, London’s last tram, Marry Poppins, Walt Disney cartoons, Adverts and Trailers and much more!
Our residents were treated to an afternoon of recreating a bygone cinema experience, where they were transported back to the 1940’s and travelled through the years ending with 1960.
Reminiscence through these films aimed to evoke memories and stimulate mental activity in our residents to improve mental well-being.
We all possess memories, and all have our own unique life history, Nostalgia films aims to remind us of times we may have forgotten. This activity was a great way for our team members and residents to discuss their own memories and life experiences.
Here at Broadlands Lodge, we care about our resident’s life history and what holds importance to them, we believe life experiences and memories should be recalled, reflected upon and preserved. Reminiscing on happy times from the past can encourage feelings of affirmation and hope. Some memories can spark joy and happiness and can lead to wider conversations which helps build rapport and relationships. Discussing shared experiences helps people feel understood and connected.
