In a splendid celebration of culture and community, Rossendale House in Burnley embraced the vibrant festival of Diwali, bringing joy and excitement to its residents. From dawn, the care home buzzed with energy as residents, supported by the lifestyle team, engaged in crafting colourful Diwali lights. Using coloured clay to create intricate lamp holders, they demonstrated impressive hand-eye coordination—a rewarding and enjoyable activity for all involved.
The lounge and dining areas transformed into a kaleidoscope of colour, reflecting the essence of Diwali. Residents delved into the story of Diwali, finding the narratives both engaging and enlightening. The rich tapestry of Indian culture became a living story within the walls of Rossendale House.
As the morning transitioned into afternoon, an Indian-themed lunch awaited. Prepared with dedication by the talented catering team, the meal was a testament to the home’s commitment to providing residents with diverse and delightful experiences. Indian music filled the air, enhancing the dining experience and setting a true festive atmosphere. The culinary delights were met with rave reviews. Pam Coward expressed her satisfaction, saying, "It was lovely to enjoy some cultural food with some spices." Similarly, Patricia Platt remarked on the delightful surprise the meal had been, complimenting the staff for exceeding expectations.
The festivities continued as residents participated in armchair fitness sessions via the OOMPH platform, a fun way to work off the delicious feast. Joyce, a resident, shared her contentment, saying, "The activities were beautifully aligned with the theme of the day. I have really enjoyed my day today."
