Commemorating D-Day and Flower Arranging at Rossendale House
At Rossendale House, residents recently gathered to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the iconic D-Day landing. Together, they decorated buntings while discussing the significance of D-Day, sharing personal stories and memories of family members who served during that time. Using resources from Oomph, they engaged in meaningful conversations about the historical event. Dorothy, reflecting on the day, expressed, "We will accept nothing less than full victory!"
Keeping active and energized, residents then participated in armchair exercises set to 60s hits in the cinema room. Maureen enthusiastically remarked, "I feel energized now!"
Afterwards, in a relaxing lounge session, residents indulged in flower arranging while enjoying music. Dorothy, who used to arrange flowers for her church, shared her expertise with the group, explaining the art of cutting and arranging flowers. Sallie, amazed by the insights, commented, "I never realized I should cut the stems or arrange them a certain way. Thanks!" The session ended with a sense of accomplishment and newfound knowledge shared among residents.
Rossendale House continues to provide engaging activities that celebrate history and foster creativity among its cherished residents.
