Residents and colleagues at Primrose House enjoyed a delightful afternoon celebrating Yorkshire Day. The festivities began with homemade elderflower and gin cocktails served in the garden, accompanied by lively Yorkshire-themed music and a quiz. Residents had a great time singing along to cherished Yorkshire tunes.
The celebration continued with a special Yorkshire lunch menu, featuring the quintessential Yorkshire pudding. The conversation turned to the fascinating history of Yorkshire pudding and the creative ways people enjoy it, from pepperoni pizza fillings to the famous Yorkshire wrap. Hilda, one of our lovely residents, suggested using the pudding mixture to make pancakes, a fantastic idea that was met with enthusiasm. The residents whisked up a batch of pancake mixture and enjoyed their creations with lemon juice, syrup, icing sugar, and chopped bananas.
Upstairs, residents were treated to a chocolate fondue with marshmallows, bananas, strawberries, and pineapple—a sweet treat that was a hit with everyone.
The day concluded with a variety of games including Connect 4, tin can alley, ring toss, and air hockey, followed by a dance to Bill Haley's "Rock Around The Clock." It was a fantastic celebration, filled with joy and plenty of smiling faces.
