Burns Night Celebration Brings Joy to Rossendale House Residents
Residents and families of Rossendale House in Burnley recently gathered for a memorable Burns Night celebration on Saturday, 25th January. The event was a splendid testament to the dedication of the care home's lifestyle and catering teams, who worked tirelessly over the past few months to recreate the traditional Scottish festivity within the home.
The day began with residents enthusiastically decorating their surroundings, transforming the home into a fitting tribute to Robert Burns. Their excitement was palpable as they participated in a quiz, testing their knowledge about the famed Scottish poet and his celebrated night.
As the evening unfolded, the residents were delighted with a choice of authentic Scottish dishes. They savoured the classic Haggis, neeps, and tatties, or opted for a comforting Scotch Broth made with tender ham hock. The culinary journey continued with a scrumptious dessert of Cranachan, featuring toasted oats, whisky cream, honey, and raspberries.
The night reached its peak with a lively performance by the Pie-eyed band in the upstairs lounge. As residents and families enjoyed the music, they had the opportunity to sample a selection of whisky treats including Whisky hot chocolate, Whisky coffee, and Whisky over ice.
It was an evening filled with joy, laughter, and good company, leaving everyone with fond memories of a truly special Burns Night at Rossendale House. The commitment to celebrating traditions and providing joyous experiences reaffirmed the care home's dedication to the comfort and happiness of its residents.
