Rossendale House Residents Shine in 'Tour de Friends' Event
Rossendale House in Burnley recently took part in an exciting local event, 'Tour de Friends,' organised by the Burnley West Primary Care Network. This heartening initiative saw residents of sixteen care homes, including Rossendale House, coming together to cycle as many miles as possible using a foot pedal bike.
Over several months, residents and staff at Rossendale House embraced teamwork and camaraderie, working hard to accumulate miles and enjoy friendly competition. Although they didn't take home the first place prize, the experience was filled with joy, laughter, and cherished moments that brought everyone closer.
In celebration of their commitment, a medal ceremony was held at Rossendale House. Residents wore funny hats while cycling to the tune of rollicking songs, cheering each other on and discovering newfound strengths. Their efforts fostered a strong sense of community and provided a delightful platform for residents to share stories and secret skills from their past.
The celebration continued with a spirited game of balloon volleyball, where residents counted how many times they could keep the balloon afloat. To top off the joyful day, everyone enjoyed delicious cupcakes and warm cups of tea.
Rossendale House residents Patt Platt and Maureen Bellamy expressed their gratitude, highlighting the enjoyment and connection brought about by the event. As Patt Platt put it, "We have exercised, shared stories, laughed, and enjoyed a delightful snack—thank you so much."
The day proved to be not just about the miles covered but the bonds strengthened and memories created, showcasing Rossendale House as a truly caring and engaging environment for its residents.
