This week, Rossendale House in Burnley hosted a delightful garden party to celebrate the home and mark the end of Danforth In Bloom. The event brought together residents and their families for a day filled with joy and camaraderie.
In the morning, residents had the wonderful task of arranging flowers into vases for the table centrepieces. This activity was more than just a simple task; it provided residents with a sense of purpose and involvement in the party preparations.
As the day progressed, everyone enjoyed a buffet-style lunch, featuring a mouth-watering selection of sweet and savoury delights. Fresh salads, fruit, sandwiches, and pasta dishes adorned the tables. Residents sipped on chilled wine or orange juice, engaging in lively discussions about the unpredictable British weather.
Despite the rain, the beauty of Rossendale House shone through. Located amidst the breathtaking Lancashire scenery, every room in the house offers stunning views of the Rossendale Valley.
Following lunch, the entertainment began. Colin Salty took the stage, treating everyone to a summer sing-along with classic hits from across the decades. The joyous atmosphere was infectious, with residents taking to the dance floor for a boogie. Those who couldn't get up danced from their chairs, showcasing movements they had learned in armchair exercises.
The day was filled with positive feedback from the residents. Reene commented, "I think that was a lovely afternoon. Good food, good company, the singer was good, and it was well planned." Phillis added, "Thank you for such a brilliant afternoon. It was such a lovely change compared to normal. What fun we have had!" Olive shared, "My best day within the home so far. Getting to meet all of the other residents was so lovely. They are all such dear people, and I even managed to have a dance with Emily."
The garden party at Rossendale House was a resounding success, leaving everyone with fond memories and the warm feeling of community spirit. It’s events like these that make Rossendale House a cherished home for its residents.
