Roald Dahl Day is an annual celebration of the author's life and works, held on September 13th to mark his birthday. At Broadlands Lodge, we recently organized a delightful Roald Dahl Day event, and with that amount of candy floss available it’s safe to say our residents thoroughly enjoyed it!
Our Roald Dahl Day celebration began with a morning filled with literary adventures. Residents gathered in our lounge, where our dedicated staff read aloud from one of Dahl's most beloved books, "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory".
The highlight of the day was a themed afternoon tea inspired by the whimsical treats featured in Dahl's stories, dished out by our very ownOompa Loompa’s! The talented team at Broadlands Lodge prepared an array of scrumptious delicacies, including many of Willy Wonka's chocolate delights.
Roald Dahl Day was of immense importance in our care home for several reasons. Firstly, it fosters a sense of togetherness and community. It encouraged our residents to share their personal connections with literature and brought back cherished memories of reading to their own children and grandchildren.
Overall Roald Dahl day at Broadlands Lodge was a massively heart-warming occasion that our team members put on for the residents, giving them the opportunity to relive the magic of childhood stories together. Therefore, emphasising the sense of community and well-being that is so important to Danforth. Days like this are a testament to the team at Broadlands Lodge and their commitment to creating a nurturing environment.
The laughter, and animated conversations that filled the room during our Roald Dahl Day celebration brought a smile to all the faces of residents and team members, and hopefully the readers of this story too.
