Primrose House Delights Residents with Italian Dining Experience
At Primrose House in Brough, an evening of Italian delight unfolded as the care home transformed into an authentic Italian pop-up restaurant for its residents. Once a month, Primrose creates these special dining experiences and this month's event was extraordinary, as residents savoured homemade Italian cuisine amidst a beautifully decorated setting.
The evening began with starters featuring a refreshing rocket salad garnished with parmesan, alongside bruschetta delightfully drizzled with balsamic vinegar. The main course offered a tempting choice between gnocchi in a creamy pesto sauce, traditional spaghetti carbonara, and an assortment of homemade pizzas. The pizzas were artfully crafted by residents themselves with vibrant toppings, including mozzarella, pineapple, and sweetcorn; ham and pineapple; and the richly flavoured combination of olives and ham. A special mention goes to Rita, who expertly contributed by preparing the pineapple.
Adding to the ambience, a picturesque Italian backdrop enhanced the dining experience with flags and props transporting everyone to the heart of Italy. To round off the meal, residents were treated to a delightful dessert – fruit and meringue beautifully adorned with a tiny flag.
As the evening drew to a close, the residents sipped Italian wine, savouring the warmth of shared company and the splendid flavours of the evening. The Italian pop-up restaurant at Primrose House was a resounding success, creating cherished memories and offering a taste of Italy that residents are sure to remember fondly.
