This week the residents and staff at Heath Lodge celebrated Shrove Tuesday in style.
The Holt-based care home, which specialises in residential, respite, and dementia care, celebrated pancake day together with a choice of topping and the tossing of pancakes! Residents and staff enjoyed a chat and a chuckle at this annual event, evoking fond childhood memories for some residents.
Residents were given an activity pack, this included the history around shrove Tuesday, a word search a quiz a crossword and art activity.
They then joined in making pancakes for lunch, which they thoroughly enjoyed, and were able to sample a selection of sweet and savoury pancakes which included, traditional lemon and sugar, Fruit Compote, Chocolate and banana fondant, and Cheese caramelised onion and ham.
They were then treated to a pancake race where the staff showed off their flipping skills, which resulted in the residents laughing with joy.
Carol Preston the Care Home Manager said “We like to create a comfortable living space for all. Our activities are always varied, so we can appeal to all our residents and we do regularly ask for feedback and suggestions.”
Carol Continued “We have an amazing team here, which is so important. The quality of life and the high standard of care we give are of paramount importance to us. I think it’s what makes us so special!”
This 66-bed purpose-built care home offers a relaxed and warm atmosphere, that is both supportive and engaging. Its state-of-the-art facilities include a cinema, hair salon, sweet shop, restaurant-style dining and lounge areas.
