On July 5th, residents from Old Norse Lodge Care Home had the opportunity to take a trip to the local garden centre. Friends, family, and staff also accompanied them for the outing.
The trip was first conceived at the Residents Meeting held on 27th June and happily the idea was well received and enthusiastically supported by everyone. An agreement was made to organise a taxi from a local taxi company and have staff on hand to accompany and assist the residents.
The group anxiously awaited the morning of the 5th and soon their journey began. A glorious spring day greeted them as they arrived at the garden centre, and they soon set off to explore the grounds.
The residents took great pleasure in visiting the various greenhouses and viewing the stunning displays of colourful blooms of the season. They delighted in the pinks, whites, and yellows of the flowers, the dark greens of the foliage, and the sweet fragrances of the soil. They discussed the various plants that could be sourced to add to the planters at the home.
Leaving the confines of the greenhouses, the group ventured outside to the expansive lawns. Here they enjoyed the beauty of the grounds and the fragrances of the trees and flowers. They found a magical spot under a shady tree for a picnic lunch, finishing it off with some delicious cakes and hot drinks.
Returning to the care home the residents were full of contentment from the memories they had made. The wonderful day out was a great success, and the Old Norse Lodge Care Home looks forward to providing more outings for its residents in the future.
"Working together to promote socialisation and individuality is so important for us at Old Norse Lodge Care Home. With our Residents meeting and this trip to the Garden Centre, I'm proud to deliver a sense of community and understanding that we value here." - Julie Afsar, Care Home Manager for Old Norse Lodge Care Home
