Heath Lodge Community Unites for Dementia Activity Hub
At Heath Lodge in the tranquil setting of North Norfolk, a heartening story of community generosity has emerged. The dedicated team at Heath Lodge has embarked on an exciting new project to establish an activity hub tailored specifically for residents living with dementia. This hub aims to provide sensory experiences and activities to help evoke fond memories and offer comfort.
Under the visionary leadership of General Manager Hazel, the team sought to incorporate music as a key element of the hub, recognising its power to evoke nostalgia and joy. Hazel reached out to the local community with a simple request: a desire for a record player and some vinyl records to reignite the memories of yesteryear for their residents.
The response was both overwhelming and moving. The local community rallied to support Heath Lodge’s vision, donating a vast collection of records. The story took an especially touching turn when a generous local woman donated her late father's beloved record player. Her father, described as "a very generous man who always liked to help people," offered inspiration even beyond his lifetime.
Through this collective act of kindness, Heath Lodge has been able to create a warm atmosphere that resonates with the echoes of cherished memories, showcasing not only the care provided by the staff but also the profound connection with the surrounding community.
Danforth Care Homes are currently welcoming residents, If you or a loved one wish to find out more information or come along, explore the facilities, and meet the staff, you can do so by contacting the enquiry team.
