On Friday, 16th of June 2023, Old Norse Lodge Care Home made its mark at the Cleethorpes Community Carnival, part of a weekend of celebrations to honour the Armed Forces.
Staff at Old Norse Lodge Care Home, dressed as gangster grannies and had some help from the lovely residents handing out leaflets and sweets with a smile. Staff members happily joined in the festive spirit of the event.
The carnival was organised by Stephanie, Care Assistant at Old Norse Lodge Care Home. She worked hard to make the event a success and had lots of fun along the way. The residents really enjoyed the festivities of the carnival and also brought a little cheer to the local holidaymakers, tourists, and residents of the area.
Stephanie commented; "It was an honour to be part of such a momentous occasion, and even more special when it made the local paper, Grimsby Live!"
Adrienne (weekend name), one of the staff members at Old Norse Lodge, took part in the event and quickly became a local celebrity, posing for photos with fellow participants.
"It was such a great way to get out and be involved in the local community," said Adrienne. "The best part was seeing the residents smile as people waved and said hello to them."
The event was a huge success, and the residents and staff of the Care Home made an impression on the Cleethorpes Community. People felt a special connection to Old Norse Lodge Care Home after the cheerful attitudes of the staff and residents throughout the celebrations.
"It was absolutely amazing for the residents to be able to get involved and play their part in such a special weekend. We had a fantastic day, and our Gangster Grannies were certainly a standout!" - Julie Afsar, Care Home Manager Old Norse Lodge Care Home
