Festive Lights Spark Joy at Rossendale House Christmas Event
Rossendale House, nestled in the heart of Burnley, Lancashire, brought the festive spirit alive this past Sunday with its highly anticipated Christmas Light Switch On event. The residents have eagerly awaited this joyous occasion for weeks, reminiscing about Oliver, the much-loved entertainer, who they had been requesting since his last visit.
The atmosphere was set as the lifestyle team transformed the reception into a cosy winter wonderland. Fairy lights twinkled, LED candles flickered, and the comforting aromas of Christmas scents filled the air. An inviting drinks station offered hot chocolate, mulled wine, and a selection of wines, complemented by festive treats like mince pies and cakes. The stage was perfectly set for an unforgettable evening.
Oliver, understanding the importance of bringing joy, captivated the audience with his lively performance. Dressed as different characters throughout his set, Oliver charmed the residents with festive ballads by Bing Crosby, Toni Christie, Elvis, and Frank Sinatra. His sense of humour and talent shone brightly, as residents sang along and clapped in delight. The highlight was Oliver's impersonation of Tony Christie, bringing a resident back to enjoy her favourite performance.
As the evening drew to its climax, Oliver, dressed as Elton John, led the countdown to the grand switch on. The room sparkled as the lights illuminated, marking the start of the festive season. Cheers erupted, and residents celebrated with beverages and mince pies.
Mike Barnes expressed his joy, “What a show, he was marvellous and absolutely hilarious.” Kathy Hill appreciated seeing her mum joyful, while Lorna Shepard noted, “What a fantastic performance…it’s nice to see us all together enjoying ourselves.”
The evening was an enchanting success, filling Rossendale House with laughter, music, and cherished memories.
