Rossendale House welcomed the vibrant spirit of Chinese New Year with a delightful celebration that brought residents, families, and staff together for an unforgettable evening of food, fun, and cultural enrichment.
The team at Rossendale House took a person-centred approach in planning our Chinese New Year festivities. Invitations were extended to residents and families, allowing us to tailor the event to accommodate individual preferences. Our dedicated kitchen staff meticulously prepared a Chinese 'fake-away' menu that would tantalize the taste buds and evoke the essence of traditional Chinese cuisine.
The upstairs unit of our residence was transformed into a charming Chinese restaurant, adorned with tasteful decorations that captured the spirit of the occasion. Each table was elegantly set with printed menus, accompanied by delightful treats such as prawn crackers and fortune cookies, adding an extra touch of authenticity to the dining experience.
Residents and their families gathered in our makeshift restaurant, relishing the opportunity to savour delicious Chinese dishes while enjoying each other's company in a warm and inviting atmosphere. The sense of normality and togetherness brought joy to all, as cherished memories were created amidst the laughter and camaraderie.
For residents who preferred alternative activities, Chinese New Year trivia, bingo games, and music provided entertainment and engagement. They also had the chance to explore Chinese culture and traditions, deepening their understanding of this auspicious holiday.
Reflecting on the experience, Joan expressed her delight, saying, "That was so lovely, I didn’t realise that we could do that. I enjoyed the food and the company; it was very well done." Pam echoed similar sentiments, emphasizing the importance of the event in bringing a sense of normalcy and culinary delight to their lives.
At Rossendale House, we cherish moments of celebration and cultural enrichment, striving to create memorable experiences that foster connections and enrich the lives of our residents and their families.
