Primrose House care home in Brough recently held a vibrant Creative Week filled with laughter, creativity, and community spirit. Residents dove into various crafty activities, beginning with the creation of delightful pompom ice-creams. Using a nifty device, it made crafting accessible for everyone, even those who struggle with fine motor skills. With help from the caring staff, residents expertly cut, trimmed, and fluffed up the pompoms, resulting in charming and colourful ice-creams. It sparked fond memories of school days when cardboard templates were the norm.
In another marvellous session, residents crafted beautiful bookmarks. Using a blend of multi-coloured tissue paper, textured flowers, and stickers, each bookmark became a unique piece of art. The creative juices really flowed, showcasing the team spirit and individuality of each resident.
The artistic journey continued with a fun painting project. Residents used cotton buds to create lovely flower art, with each piece radiating beauty in its own special way. In the evening, everyone’s brains got a workout during a quiz night. Rita emerged as the quiz champion, much to the delight of her peers.
Primrose House also hosted a lively Scalextric competition, bringing out the competitive spirit in everyone. Bill and Peter, in particular, showcased intense focus as they mastered the jumps on the track. The excitement was palpable as residents cheered on their favourite drivers.
Over the weekend, laughter echoed through the halls during a spirited bingo session. Residents reminisced about their favourite bingo calls and shared stories of days out on the town, all while enjoying classic tunes like “Yellow Submarine” and Buddy Holly hits. Jill and Norah’s luck shone brightly as they won a giant bag of chocolate buttons.
Finally, the week wrapped up with a delightful baking session. Led by activity coordinator Rachel, residents chose to bake shortbread biscuits. Everyone eagerly got involved, mixing ingredients by hand and rolling out the dough. Rita and Margaret added a special touch with fork imprints and a sprinkle of caster sugar. Once baked, the shortbread looked and tasted absolutely divine, a perfect end to a heartwarming and creatively fulfilling week.
Creative Week at Primrose House highlighted the home’s dedication to enriching the lives of its residents, fostering a sense of community, and ensuring that every day is as enjoyable as it is fulfilling.
