It’s been another busy week at Heath Lodge as they welcomed their new General Manager Hazel Madden. Hazel wastedno time in getting to know the staff and residents and getting to work on her plans for the future.
Hazel was very keen to shine a light on the team at Heath Lodge for their hard work and dedicated approach to theirroles.
“I have been very impressed with the team at Heath Lodge. We have a group of individuals that work incredibly welltogether and always go the extra mile for our residents. It is lovely to see so many smiling faces.”
Hazel highlighted the extra efforts made by Care Assistant Sophie Marlow, who wanted to learn more aboutDementia so enrolled herself on a course through Reed: Dementia Advanced Diploma, and she has passed thecourse this week. The course had six modules and focused on every aspect of Dementia, from person-centered-care, to understanding the stages of dementia and the wider support of family.
Hazel commented.
“For someone to feel they want to learn more about dementia to help them with their role, then to organise and attend a course outside of work is very rare and really should be commended. We are very proud of Sophie and wanted to buy her something to mark the occasion.”
Hazel has also worked closely with the team this week to organize the first event for residents: A Wine and Cheese afternoon.
Hazel continues “Sarah McCluskey our amazing Unit Manager arranged the event, she used to be a chef(among other hidden talents) so she put her skills to use and put together these wonderful trays. She even put together an activity pack with some interesting fact sheets about the history of cheese and wine and word searches.”
Sarah who has a background in activities added:
“This is what it is all about, seeing the residents and staff all together having fun and enjoying themselves. All the residents enjoyed both the cheese and wine and they all went back for seconds!
One of our residents made a toast to all the lovely staff and managers for putting on the event and for all the care they provide.”
