When the residents at Heath Lodge were asked what activity they wanted in the home this week there was a clear winner: Afternoon Tea.
The very talented Sous Chef Clare Wilson got straight to work, and put together a menu specially designed for the Heath Lodge residents. Clare explains:
“We encourage our residents to let us know what they enjoy, or if there is something special they would like to try. It’s also good to know what is not popular. This makes creating bespoke menus for our events much easier for the catering team.”
Not surprisingly the menu was a hit with residents: finger sandwiches, scones with cream and jam, mini-Victoria sandwich, and fruit cake.
Hayley Hirst, the newly appointed Care Manger for Heath Lodge said “We like our residents to have input into everything we do here, just as they would have in their own home. We gather feedback on a regular basis and I think the light atmosphere and laughter speak for itself. All The activities were popular this afternoon, but the runaway favourite was afternoon tea etiquette!”
Hayley joined the team this week. She started working in care at the age of 15 at weekends as a weekend assistant and then started working full time when she left school. She had a variety of different roles, and then becoming a deputy manager and a care home manager. She completed her level 5 in leadership and management in 2017. She has also achieved a diploma in Dementia care through Dementia Care Matters.
Jan Gibbs, The Regional Manager (South - East) commented: “We are delighted to welcome Hayley on board. She brings fantastic skills and experience to the Heath Team, and has already hit the ground running ”
