Woodland Court in Great Yarmouth recently celebrated a remarkable achievement with their resident catering superstar, Sara. Since joining the team in January, Sara, who is registered deaf and initially had limited culinary experience, has thrived under the mentorship of head chef, Kay. Kay has been instrumental in nurturing Sara's passion for cooking, guiding her step by step through the art of culinary creation.
Sara's crowning achievement came when she baked cookies entirely on her own, delighting both residents and staff with her delicious creations. What began as a tentative start in the kitchen, washing pots and tackling basic tasks, has since blossomed into a genuine love for cooking. Sara now enthusiastically contributes to preparing a variety of dishes, including soups and pies, expanding her repertoire and growing in confidence.
This journey has sparked a transformation in Sara, from a shy and reticent team member to an outgoing and spirited presence in the care home's kitchen. Her growth has not only been in her skills but also in her personality, bringing a renewed energy and warmth to the Woodland Court family. Sara's progress is a testament to the supportive environment fostered by the staff, offering hope and inspiration to all who come through their doors.
