At Primrose House, located on Bluebird Way in Brough, a remarkable VE Day celebration unfolded, transporting residents on a delightful journey through time. The afternoon was enriched with a fascinating collection of treasured items from the 1920s to the 1970s. Residents reveled in nostalgia as they explored a variety of artifacts, including 1940s football boots complete with studs, ration coupons, and vintage Hull City programmes from the 1960s and early 1970s. A highlight of the display was the intriguing cork rose-top police helmet alongside an East Riding of Yorkshire Constabulary helmet plate, setting the stage for lively discussions and shared memories.
As the day turned to evening, the care home echoed with music and laughter as residents immersed themselves in a vintage musical experience. The exceptionally talented singer, Sophie Rosé, captivated everyone with her stunning renditions of classic songs like “We’ll Meet Again,” “Diamonds Are a Girl's Best Friend,” and “It’s a Long Way to Tipperary.” The atmosphere was electric, with residents joyfully waving flags, singing along, and dancing to the memorable tunes. It was an enchanting day that brought the community together, reminding everyone of the vibrant and loving environment at Primrose House.
