The community café in Holt was set up 8 years ago, it not only provides meals for those that attend but also provides a ‘meals on wheels service’ for those that are not able to get to the Café.
The community café is run by volunteers and on average they provide up to 87 meals each week, this is free of charge and rely heavily on donations.
Heath Lodge Care Home’s manager Carol Preston has recently become aware of the amazing work the café does and commented ‘Getting to know the team and volunteers has been a very humbling experience, they do such a great job.’
Carol Preston enquired about Christmas Day and how Heath Lodge could support, this year the café is expecting 130 for lunch, this is not only for the older generation but for anyone who is alone or who has fallen on harder times, the café is also expecting some families to join them this year.
Carol was very keen to offer as much support as she could. As a result, Danforth Care Homes agreed to donate £500 towards the cost of Christmas lunch. As well as a Christmas Lunch the café has arranged a quiz which will be followed by the Kings Speech.
On the 22nd of December 2022, Carol Preston presented the Community Café with a £500 cheque. This money will make a great difference to those who are struggling through the hardships of the winter months.
To continue Carol’s support for the Café, our wonderful home manager has also spent her Christmas afternoon volunteering and supporting with serving lunch.
We are thankful for all the work the Community Café does and are looking forward to continuing our relationship and supporting them in the future.
