Broadlands Lodge take the Danforth Duck to the races
Residents of Broadlands Lodge, recently embarked on a heartwarming adventure to participate in the Grand Norwich Duck Race, all in support of the noble cause championed by Break Charity, who are dedicated to giving vulnerable children, young people and families the time, support, and care they need to achieve their full potential.
The excitement began on Saturday as residents gathered in the afternoon to prepare for the big event. Armed with brushes and a selection of paints, they coated their chosen duck in the colours of Danforth Care Homes.
On Sunday, the atmosphere at Broadlands Lodge was almost too much to bear as residents and staff donned their finest Danforth Care attire and got ready to participate in the highly-anticipated duck race. The 'Danforth Duck' was a sight to behold, looking almost as smart as its peers!
The race itself was a spirited affair, with ducks of all shapes, sizes, and colours ready to compete for victory in the lively waters. While the 'Danforth Duck' may not have emerged as the champion, it was clear that it was not from lack of enthusiasm or spirited support. Shelly, one of our cherished residents, cheered on the Danforth Duck with unwavering enthusiasm.
As the day concluded, Shelly shared her excitement about the next year's race, already making plans to ensure she is available to rally behind the 'Danforth Duck v2' once more.
The team at Broadlands Lodge, cherish every opportunity to come together in support of charitable endeavours, and the Grand Norwich Duck Race was a wonderful example of our residents' commitment to making a positive impact in the community.
