Broadlands Lodge Shines at Grand Norwich Duck Race
Broadlands Lodge in Norwich recently celebrated one of the summer's most beloved events – the Grand Norwich Duck Race 2024. This quacktastic day of family fun was held in support of Break Charity and proved to be a delightful success for all involved.
Residents and staff from Broadlands Lodge eagerly attended the event, which filled Fye Bridge with laughter, music, and the aroma of delicious food. The atmosphere was buzzing with excitement as everyone enjoyed live music, face painting, and a variety of engaging games.
In the days leading up to the race, our residents got creative and painted the Danforth Duck, preparing it for its big debut. Their artistic efforts were on full display as they transformed the rubber duck into a charming contender for the race. The sense of camaraderie and accomplishment amongst the residents was truly heart-warming.
The big race day saw hundreds of spectators gathered along the banks of the River Wensum, watching eagerly as over 70 large, brightly decorated ducks set off downstream. Cheering crowds encouraged the ducks on their way, each hoping to win the coveted Crystal Duck Trophy. Alongside the main race, thousands of little yellow ducks entered the Duckling Race, offering attendees thrilling opportunities to win fantastic prizes.
The highlight of the day was undoubtedly when Broadlands Lodge's Danforth Duck floated proudly to claim second place! Despite spending much of the race amusingly on its side, our duck demonstrated resilience and spirit, bringing immense joy and pride to our residents and staff.
The event was more than just a race; it was a chance for families, friends, and the community to come together and celebrate. Broadlands Lodge's participation in the Grand Norwich Duck Race highlighted the vibrant and inclusive community within our care home.
This memorable day showcased the creativity, teamwork, and joy that defines life at Broadlands Lodge. Such events are a testament to our commitment to providing enriching experiences for our residents, ensuring they live fulfilling and vibrant lives.
