Blakeney Harbour Adventure on Poppy the Wheelyboat
Heath Lodge Care Home in Holt is thrilled to share the heartwarming tale of a delightful outing that brought joy and smiles to our residents. Our beloved lifestyle assistant, Gareth, along with three enthusiastic residents, embarked on a memorable voyage from Blakeney Quay. Their vessel for the day was none other than Poppy the Wheelyboat, a groundbreaking addition to Norfolk's waters.
Blakeney Harbour, part of two national nature reserves, is renowned for its serene atmosphere and abundant wildlife. It is a haven for bird watchers and home to one of the UK's most important seal colonies. On a sun-drenched day, the group set out to explore these natural treasures.
Poppy the Wheelyboat, launched on 22nd April 2022, holds a special place in Norfolk's heart. She is the first wheelchair accessible powerboat in the region, making the water and its wonders accessible to all. Officially launched by the Countess of Leicester, Poppy's maiden voyage was from Blakeney Quay where she now resides. The boat is designed to cater to passengers with a range of disabilities, ensuring a comfortable and inclusive experience for everyone.
Our residents basked in the sunshine and reveled in the breathtaking scenery. The smiles and laughter on their faces were a testament to the joy and freedom this trip provided. They spotted various wildlife, from elegant birds to the playful seals that call Blakeney Harbour home.
This adventure is just one example of the exceptional care and enriching experiences Heath Lodge offers its residents. Our commitment to providing a nurturing, joyful environment is unwavering. We strive to create moments that matter, prioritising well-being and happiness.
For loved ones seeking a place that combines compassionate care with vibrant living, Heath Lodge stands out as a perfect choice. Our residents are more than a community; they are family.
